Riftbound Radiance: Jarvan IV, Mordekaiser and Evelynn Legends explained

By Ron Cruz · Published October 7, 2026

Riftbound Radiance has three more Legends. Jarvan IV moves a unit to the battlefield where you play a Deploy gear, Mordekaiser turns units and gear in your trash into power, and Evelynn draws you a card when you play one from face down. Riot showed Jarvan IV’s Exemplar of Demacia in a September 28 video, IGN revealed Mordekaiser’s Iron Revenant on October 1, and Evelynn’s Agony’s Embrace was in Riot’s reveals video the same day. Radiance releases October 23.

Counting K’Sante, Ziggs, Orianna, Ekko and Seraphine, that’s eight of the set’s nine Legends. Riven’s is the only one Riot hasn’t shown. Every Radiance card revealed in English, with its text, is on our Radiance page.

Jarvan IV’s Legend moves units to your Deploy gear

Exemplar of Demacia

When you play a gear with Deploy, you can exhaust Jarvan IV (turn him sideways) and pay 1 power of any domain to move one of your units to that gear’s battlefield. The unit can come from your base or another battlefield. Deploy gear is played to a battlefield instead of your base, including one your opponent controls, and it dies when an opponent holds that battlefield, meaning they still control it at the start of their turn and score it. Jarvan IV readies at the start of your turn, so the move is normally once a turn.

Demacian Standard

Signature cards only go in decks whose Legend shares their champion, so this one is for Jarvan IV decks. It has Deploy. When one or more of your units attack its battlefield, one of them gets +2 Might for the turn, and when you hold that battlefield, you can return the Standard to your hand.

Jarvan IV, Martial Paragon

Your gear with Deploy have Action, so you can also play them in showdowns, which start when a unit moves to a battlefield its controller doesn’t control. When he conquers a battlefield (takes control of it and scores it) where you have a Deploy gear, you channel 1 rune exhausted: the top rune of your rune deck comes onto the board exhausted.

Mordekaiser’s Legend turns your trash into power

Iron Revenant

Legend · Fury and Order · Rare · RAD 143/167

Banish a unit or gear card from your trash (your discard pile), which moves it to your banishment pile, and exhaust Mordekaiser to add 1 power of any domain. That power can only be spent playing units or gear. The ability is a Reaction, so you can use it any time, including on your opponent’s turn. Because it exhausts him, it’s normally once a turn.

Realm of Death

Signature Spell · 2 energy and 1 Fury or Order power · Epic · RAD 144/167

This one goes in Mordekaiser decks. Pick an enemy unit and one of your units. The enemy gets -2 Might and yours gets +2 Might for the turn, then each deals damage equal to its Might to the other. A 4-Might unit of yours against a 5-Might enemy becomes 6 against 3: yours deals 6 and takes 3, so the enemy dies and yours survives. It has no Action or Reaction, so you play it on your own turn outside a showdown.

Mordekaiser, Dominating

Champion Unit · Order · 9 energy and 2 Order power · 8 Might · Epic · RAD 137/167

When you play him and whenever he attacks, you can discard a card to kill a unit or gear. ### Mordekaiser, Twice Slain

Champion Unit · Fury · 7 energy and 1 Fury power · 5 Might · Rare · RAD 020/167

He has Accelerate (pay 1 energy and 1 Fury power more and he enters ready) and Assault 3 (+3 Might while he’s attacking). Once each turn, if he would die, you can kill a friendly unit instead: he heals, exhausts and goes back to your base.

Evelynn’s Legend draws a card when you play from face down

Agony’s Embrace

Legend · Body and Chaos · Rare · RAD 153/167

Once each turn, when you play a card from face down, you draw a card. If it isn’t your turn, you then discard a card, so on your opponent’s turn you swap a card rather than gain one.

Cards go face down through Hidden. On your turn, instead of playing a Hidden card from your hand, you can pay 1 power of any domain to hide it face down at a battlefield where you have units. Each battlefield holds one face-down card. Starting the next turn, you can play it from there without paying its cost, any time you could play a Reaction, including on your opponent’s turn.

Last Caress

Signature Spell · 2 energy · Epic · RAD 154/167

This one goes in Evelynn decks. It’s a Reaction, so you can play it any time, even on your opponent’s turn. The next unit you play that turn, including one you play from face down, can go to any battlefield instead of only your base or a battlefield you control, and it gets a +1 Might buff as you play it unless it already has one.

Evelynn, In Control

Champion Unit · Chaos · 4 energy and 1 Chaos power · 4 Might · Rare · RAD 109/167

She has Disarm (when she attacks, an enemy unit there gets -1 Might for the turn). When she holds a battlefield where you control a face-down card, you score 1 point. ### Evelynn, Consuming

Champion Unit · Body · 5 energy and 1 Body power · 5 Might · Epic · RAD 090/167

She has Ambush (you can play her as a Reaction to a battlefield where you have units). Whenever you play a card from face down, she readies and gets +1 Might for the turn.

Evelynn’s Showdown Deck, Pre-Rift kits and overnumbered Legends

Evelynn’s Legend also comes in a ready-to-play deck: Agony’s Embrace leads the Evelynn deck in Radiance’s Seraphine and Evelynn Showdown Decks. Riot posts the full lists for both decks on October 16.

Pre-Rift is Radiance’s prerelease, held at local stores October 16 to 22. Riot says the Pre-Rift kits contain “five Radiance boosters and a seeded Pre-Rift pack for each of the nine new Legends.”

Each Legend also has an overnumbered printing, a collector version numbered past the set’s 167 cards: Jarvan IV’s is 176, Mordekaiser’s is 170 and Evelynn’s is 175. Overnumbered cards come from the booster slot that can also hold alternate arts and the Ultimate Rare, and Riot says the overnumbered Legends can be found with an artist’s signature as well.
