Radiance Pre-Rift starts Friday, October 16. Stores run events through October 22, the day before Radiance releases. Each store sets its own schedule and registration, so find yours on Riot’s event locator. You open a kit, build a deck from what’s inside and play it right there. Everything you open is yours to keep.
Riot’s Pre-Rift guide lists what every kit holds:
- Five Radiance booster packs.
- A champion pack for one of the nine Radiance Legends: the Legend, a Rare champion unit, a battlefield and support cards for that champion.
- A Heimerdinger, Academy Instructor promo. It can’t go in your deck. A regular Heimerdinger you open in a booster can.

Sealed rules for Pre-Rift
Pre-Rift is Sealed: you build only from what you open, with no cards from your collection.
- Your Main Deck needs at least 25 cards, not counting your Legend, runes and battlefields. It can be bigger.
- Your cards and runes can come from up to three domains, the game’s six colors. If you play a Legend, both of its domains have to be among them.
- You don’t have to play the Legend from your champion pack. Any Legend you open works if both of its domains fit.
- Your chosen champion, the champion unit you start the game with outside your deck, can be any champion unit in your domains, even one that doesn’t match your Legend.
- You can play without a Legend or without a chosen champion. If you do, you draw an extra card on your first turn. Skip both and you still get only one extra card.
- Runes don’t have to come from your packs. Your Rune Deck is 12 basic runes in your domains, and the store has extras.
- Play as many copies of a card as you open. The usual limit of three doesn’t apply.
- Use battlefields you open, or a face-down card as a blank battlefield with no ability.
- You can change your deck between games and rounds.
